SMARTNER'S HISTORY
Smartner Information Systems Ltd. was founded in 1999 by Mika Uusitalo and Jussi Räisänen, who had got to know each other while studying in the Department of Industrial Management at the Helsinki University of Technology. Both of them had also worked for Digia, a new media company. Mika Uusitalo's field of expertise was specifically related to mobile technologies and information technology, whereas Jussi Räisänen had gained experience in management consulting and software business.
Uusitalo and Räisänen were soon joined by Ari Backholm, a specialist in business strategies and financing polishing his doctoral thesis, and Robert Rasmus, a Vice President of a business unit in Sonera, who was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Smartner.
Smartner's business idea was based on the observation that the majority of mobile services were produced, due to a lack of tools and ready-to-use products, as tailor-made
projects. The core idea of the founders was to create a software product that could be used to save time and effort in the development of mobile services.
At present, operators have entered into the mobile business services market. Operators have the know-how in network technologies and they are the only party able to control network access. They are also in a better position than individual companies to keep up with fast development of mobile technologies.
Smartner provides operators and service providers with technology solutions that enable fast entry to the mobile business services market. |
