NEW EDITION OF SMARTNER OFFICE EXTENDER FORMS A COMPLETE MOBILE BUSINESS SOLUTION FOR OPERATORS - Mobile email, calendar, tasks, contacts and group messaging in one solution
Smartner Information Systems Ltd. has today introduced a new version of Smartner Office Extender, the mobile email and calendar solution for operators and service providers, at the Smau01 exhibition in Milan, Italy. Smartner Office Extender
1.2 is an enhanced combination of Smartner Email Extender and Calendar Extender 1.1 applications with several new features, e.g. management of tasks, contacts and attachments.
"The new Smartner Office Extender has all the necessary features of email and calendar that the mobile workforce needs while outside their offices", says Petri Tuura, Product Development Manager of Smartner. "Now it is possible to manage different email folders and attachments as well as send group messages via SMS. In addition, both company and personal contacts, tasks, and SMS alerts of specified emails can be used."
The earlier versions of Smartner Office Extender are in use in GSM and GPRS networks at two Finnish mobile operators, DNA Finland and Radiolinja. The new version is being tested at the moment by several European operators, including the Italian operator Blu. This version has improved operator management tools for different networks and devices as well as multi-language support to enable service management and usage in different countries.
Smartner Office Extender provides employees with mobile access to their enterprise's office systems; it can be used with WAP browsers or SMS enabled handsets, PDA devices and through a web interface. The new version has also optimized WAP and WWW
interfaces for Nokia 9210 Communicator. The solution supports Microsoft Exchange and Lotus Domino systems as well as all POP/IMAP email servers.
The solution is offered to the enterprise as a service hosted by an operator or a service provider. It doesn't require enterprises to buy any new hardware, and the security is ensured by Smartner Enterprise Gateway featuring TLS encryption and password-based authentication. For the operator, the Smartner solution offers easy service management with multi-level administration, and flexible integration options to the operator's existing portal and third party applications with the service management module Smartner Engine.
