SMARTNER TO DRIVE EUROPEAN
MOBILE OFFICE MARKET
Finland's leading provider of business mobility solutions kicks off pan-European expansion Sealing first major contracts in continental Europe with Swisscom Mobile and BLU Telecomunicazione
Smartner Information Systems today announced plans to expand across Europe, targeting mobile operators and their corporate clients with its market-leading business mobility solutions.
Smartner already counts Finland's Radiolinja and DNA Finland as well as Italian BLU Telecomunicazione as customers and has partner deals with major names in wireless infrastructure provision including IBM and HP. The company recently won its first contract in continental Europe with Swisscom Mobile and is now focused on attracting operators in Europe's major wireless markets, including the UK, Germany and Italy.
Smartner's mobile office applications allow wireless operators to provide enterprises with device-independent, fully secure access to essential information systems on the move - from e-mail and calendar services to database access and customer contact lists. All technology is hosted and managed by the operator, meaning small and medium-sized businesses can provide mobile access to all employees without large up-front investment costs.
According to analysts at Ovum, 39.4 million business people worldwide will use wireless enterprise technologies by 2006, a market worth more than $28.7 billion. And, in a recent survey by Cap Gemini, the Smartner solution was evaluated as the best mobile office product on the market, topping the research for both its ease-of-use and security.
"With more and more business conducted on the move, the need for anywhere, anytime access to company data and information systems is acute. However, the absence of a simple-to-use and cost-effective mobile office solution has meant that this demand has gone unmet," explained Jussi Räisänen, Co-founder of Smartner Information Systems.
"The Smartner business mobility solution solves these issues comprehensively. Alongside its speed and security, the key feature is its innovative, operator-hosted business model. This removes the pain and expense of managing the service for the enterprise and allows operators to bill their corporate clients on a familiar 'per-month, per-user' basis."
"The response from enterprises has been emphatic. Smartner's mobile office solutions have helped Radiolinja attract hundreds of business customers since launching at the end of last year. With success in our home market, the time is now right to grow across Europe. The contract with Swisscom is the first step in this expansion strategy and our powerful distribution agreements give Smartner the muscle to win and service clients over a large geographic area."
Smartner has strong backing from IT Provider and EQVITEC Partners, the leading Nordic venture capital companies, and Sitra, the Finnish National Fund for Research and Development. The company has broken even and is operating at a profit.
