EX-IBM MAN JOINS SMARTNER AS CEO
Paul Hedman to drive global expansion in the mobile enterprise solutions market
Smartner, the European leader in mobile email and office solutions, today announced that Paul Hedman has joined the company as Chief Executive Officer with immediate effect.
Paul has been recruited to extend Smartner’s position as the leading provider of mobile email solutions in Europe. As part of this, Paul will be looking to build existing customer channels and recruit new mobile operators and IT solution providers to resell its products across Europe and beyond. This major growth plan follows the acquisition of UK mobile solution provider, Commtag in May.
Paul has over 20 years experience in international IT and telecoms companies, including 17 years in strategic positions at IBM. Originally from Sweden, Paul has worked in the UK, France, Norway, US and Saudi Arabia and is therefore ideally positioned to expand Smartner’s business beyond its current European boundaries.
Prior to joining Smartner, Paul was Managing Director at IBX Integrated Business Exchange, in Norway. Before this, he was Managing Director for Telia Electronic Commerce in Sweden.
Paul replaces Robert Rasmus who will remain with the company in a business development capacity.
"Smartner has an excellent position in the market with innovative, award-winning mobile email solutions and backing of strong investors. I’m looking forward to working with the Smartner team and our key partners such as IBM and Microsoft to deliver the most innovative solutions to telecom operators and enterprises throughout Europe," said Paul Hedman, newly appointed CEO, Smartner.
"Paul has a proven track record in strategic leadership and brings broad international experience to the position. I’m sure that he will successfully lead Smartner’s transition into a true global player in this highly competitive and emerging market," said Robert Rasmus, former CEO, Smartner.
