SMARTNER SIGNS UP WITH MANX
TELECOM
Strengthening the co-operation with O2
Cambridge, England and Helsinki,
Finland - 20 February 2004: Smartner, the European leader in mobile
email and office solutions, today announced a partnership with Manx
Telecom, bringing the award winning Smartner Duality push email to the
business users of the Isle of Man.
Smartner Duality provides mobile professionals with a real-time link-up
to their desktop Microsoft Outlook and Lotus Notes packages via a PDA
or other mobile access device. It simultaneously pushes all incoming
emails and calendar dates to the user’s device and enables them to
maintain complete control over all desktop functions when away from the
office.
"Having Manx Telecom, an MMO2 operating Company, as our partner is an
important step in the growth of Smartner. Demand for the service comes
from the many major global enterprises based in the Isle of Man, who
require advanced mobile solutions to meet their global communication
needs. Duality will provide Manx Telecom with an innovative and
competitive mobility solution to drive the uptake of GPRS, new devices
and meet the needs of the market." said Richard van Beckhoven,
General
Manager, Smartner.
Manx Telecom Data Services Supervisor Sarah Creighton said: “We
are
proud of our association with Duality and believe this to be an
excellent service which makes the XDA2 a truly indispensable device.
You may have read about the Blackberry technology for push-mail,
Duality works equally as well and has the added advantage that
attachments can be handled in Pocket Word and Excel, as well as getting
better value for money out of your device with the ability to install
or develop custom applications for the Pocket PC operating system. I
was amazed by how much more productive I can be each day. I have the
ability to keep on top of my e-mails even when in meetings or out and
about. In an ideal world this would mean being able to leave work half
an hour earlier each day, of course in reality it just means I get more
done!”
