SMARTNER EXPANDS DUALITY ALWAYS-ON MAIL® FOR INTERNET EMAIL AND MASS-MARKET PHONES
Debuting the world's most comprehensive always-on mail solution for operators and device manufacturers
Cambridge, UK and Helsinki, Finland - 3 May 2004: Smartner, the European leader in mobile email and office solutions, today announced the launch of significant expansion to its award-winning Duality Always-on Mail product line.
In addition to individual business professionals through Duality Professional Edition and enterprises through Duality Enterprise Edition, all Internet email users, independent of their email provider, can now enjoy the benefits of Always-on Mail through a new Duality Internet Edition. The unique technology powering Smartner Duality enables the solution to be deployed by the user in minutes without entering a single configuration at the device, making it extremely easy for anyone to enjoy the benefits of Always-on Mail. Smartner Duality Internet Edition is an ideal solution for individual subscribers and small businesses, and for mobile operators and device manufacturers looking for a complete solution for these volume markets.
Further, Smartner expands device support to benefit the users of mass-market Java-enabled phones, providing them the ability to enjoy real-time messaging experience on very affordable devices, whether in business or personal use. Utilising mass-market Java-enabled phones, enterprises, mobile operators and device manufacturers can expand their Always-on Mail offering from the the high-end niche with PDAs and smartphones to the volume market.
In 2003, Smartner Duality was recognized with the Award for Best Corporate Wireless Application in 3GSM World Congress. Smartner Duality Always-on Mail extends access to Microsoft Outlook, Lotus Notes and Internet mailboxes to wireless devices. It automatically pushes new emails to mobile professionals without any user interaction, and provides them with complete control over their desktop functions while on the road. User can enjoy the Short Message (SMS) like immediacy with complete email functionalities, such as attachments, and full integration to their personal, corporate, and global email infrastructure without compromising any aspect of corporate or personal security.
"We are proud of providing the most comprehensive Always-on Mail solution for the rapidly growing market", said Paul Hedman, Chief Executive Officer, Smartner. "The user has now a complete choice to enjoy benefits of Always-on Mail: in both personal or business context, and use either a high-end smartphone or PDA, or go for an affordably priced mass-market phone."
"Smartner made a good move in acquiring Commtag, catching a spike in mobile email and groupware interest that began last fall", said Tony Rizzo, Sector Head, Mobile Software, The 451 Group, a global market analysis firm. "We believe the company can hold onto a fairly sizable number two position behind RIM - primarily by offering an alterative to RIM's BlackBerry and building enterprise momentum through less-expensive subscriptions."
